WE STRUGGLE TO KEEP OUR IDENTITY
The British arrive and battle Māori for land in Tauranga, Taranaki and Waikato.
Missionaries and whalers move into area followed by colonists.
They spread out and along with some local iwi confiscate our land.
The new inhabitants bring new ideas and force their way of living on our people.
Whānau and hapū suffer and some drift away from their cultural roots.
GREEN
For grievance (tears).
WHITE
The light of going forward.
