Valued at $30,000 including GST

This scholarship will be credited towards paying the tuition fees of the successful applicant’s programme of study.

The remaining funds will be credited to their verified bank account as a one-off stipend payment.
Purpose of Award: The purpose of this award is to support doctoral tauira to complete their programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.
Eligibility: Applicants for the scholarship must be;

enrolled full-time in a doctoral programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi;
-
undertaking research that includes a significant AI component and a significant mātauranga Māori or kaupapa Māori component;
-
not already receiving scholarships totalling more than $10,000; and
-
either a New Zealand citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident currently living in New Zealand.
Research Review: The scholarship recipient’s research will be reviewed by Distinguished Professor Linda Tuhiwai Smith, a principal researcher of Abundant Intelligence, in addition to the recipient’s current supervisor/s.
Submission of Scholarship Application: The application form must be submitted by 4.30 pm, Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
