The information below pertains to Te Matatini Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Performing Arts Scholarship being offered in 2024

- Available: Limited to 5 awardees
- Value: Valued at $4,000 each including GST. This scholarship will be credited towards paying tuition fees of the successful applicant’s programme of study. If the awardee is in receipt of another scholarship or further funding for their study, they will be granted the balance between their existing scholarship/funding and the full Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Performing Arts at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi potential scholarship.
Eligibility:
- 1. Applicants must be enrolled or intend to enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Performing Arts at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.
2. Open to candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to the promotion and preservation of traditional Māori performing arts. - Academic Excellence: Applicants should have a strong academic record, showcasing dedication and excellence in their previous studies.
- Leadership and Community Involvement: Candidates are encouraged to demonstrate leadership qualities and active participation in community or cultural activities, particularly those related to Māori performing arts.
- Commitment to Te Reo Māori: Emphasis on applicants who exhibit a commitment to the revitalisation and use of Te Reo Māori in the context of performing arts.
- Cultural Contributions: A history of meaningful contributions to the Māori community, such as involvement in Kapa Haka, cultural festivals, or other relevant initiatives.
- Vision for Māori Performing Arts: Applicants should articulate a clear vision for how they intend to contribute to and advance Māori performing arts in the future.
- Letter of Intent: Submission of a compelling letter of intent outlining the applicant's passion for Māori performing arts, their academic and professional goals, and how they plan to contribute to the community.
- Referee Recommendations: Letters of recommendation from academic and community referees who can attest to the applicant's character, achievements, and potential in the field of Māori performing arts.
- Interview (if applicable): Shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in an interview to further assess their suitability for the scholarship.
- Financial Need (if applicable): Consideration may be given to applicants facing financial barriers, although emphasis will be placed on merit and commitment to Māori performing arts.
