Graduation Application Information

Applications to graduate in 2026 are now open (application form is below).

All eligible graduands will shortly receive an email invitation to 'Apply to Graduate'. This form must be completed by all graduands, regardless of whether you plan to attend graduation in person or graduate in absentia (with their qualification Tohu sent by post).

If you are awaiting your graduation invitation, we recommend checking your email inbox for messages sent from graduation@wananga.ac.nz. Please also check your junk or spam folders, as automated messages may occasionally be filtered there.

If you wish to apply to graduate but are unsure of your person code, our kaimahi are happy to assist. You can contact us by phone on 0508 92 62 64, or by email at graduation@wananga.ac.nz to request this information.

Costs and Payment Information

The graduation fee covers the hire of your academic regalia.

Payment options include:
•    Paying the fee yourself
•    Having an employer or organisation pay on your behalf

If an employer or organisation is paying, send an email to us graduation@wananga.ac.nz with the subject 'Employer Pays My Graduation Fees' and include the following information.
•    the organisation name paying
•    the name of the contact within the organisation
•    an email address for invoicing

Marae Accommodation

Please send us an email if you would like to be contacted about marae accommodation. This indicates an expression of interest only and does not confirm a booking. One of our Kaimahi will contact you to discuss availability, any costs (if applicable), and the next steps.  Send your email to graduation@wananga.ac.nz with the subject Marae Accommodation Request.

Choosing Your Qualification

If you are graduating from more than one qualification, please select your highest qualification.  This ensures the correct academic regalia is provided and the correct graduation fee is applied.

 

Apply to Graduate

You will need the following information to complete this form:

  • Your person code (this can be found a the top of your invitation email)
  • Name of the qualification you are graduating from (please select your highest/latest if graduating from multiple qualifications)
  • Measurements in centimetres (cms) for your height, chest width (distance between shoulders), and head circumference (PhD, Masters, and undergraduate degree graduands only)

This is written at the top of your invitation email

Not Attending Graduation in Person?

If for any reason you are unable to attend in person your tohu will be mailed to the postal address we have on file for you.

Qualification and Academic Regalia
Due to limited catering and seating purposes, tickets are restricted to 2 whānau or supporters per graduate/graduand.
This must be your full height i.e., measure from your head to your toes
This is the width from left shoulder to right across the front of your chest, which determines the width of the gown
Measure your head around your forehead where your hat (trencher) will sit.
Costs and Payment Instructions

Graduating with a PhD, Masters, or undergraduate degree will cost $50.

Graduating with a certificate the cost is $25.

Cash and EFTPOS payments must be made before graduation to the cashier on campus or online.

Applicant Declaration

I agree to return all issued academic regalia, in good order, and to the required return location by the specified time. If I fail to return all regalia items by the specified time, I accept liability for any costs incurred in collecting, recovering, or replacing the academic regalia.
