COVID-19 response: Friday 14 August
Latest COVID-19 update: current Alert Levels to remain as they are until Wednesday 26 August
The Prime Minister announced this afternoon that the current Alert Levels would remain until 11.59pm on Wednesday 26 August. This will be reviewed next Friday 21 August, and a further update will be provided then. For a summary of what the Government Alert Levels mean, click here.
This means the plans we communicated to you on Wednesday remain the same. We have outlined again below what this means:
Programmes currently being delivered outside of the Auckland Region and offsite (e.g. marae-based) will continue. However, Alert Level 2 protocols will apply in regard to physical distancing, contact tracing and safe hygiene protocols.
Tāmaki campus:
- Our Tāmaki Campus will remain closed.
- Kaimahi and tauira are not allowed on campus.
- All teaching and learning will continue to be delivered online only during Alert Level 3. If this is not possible, classes will be postponed to a later date. Kaiako will be touch with tauira to confirm plans for delivery.
- All noho will continue to be held online until further notice.
- Stay home, follow safe hygiene and contact tracing protocols and physical distancing of 2 metres in public areas, wear your masks.
Whakatāne Campus:
- Programme delivery on campus is to continue under Alert Level 2. This includes our Nursing and Career Preparation and Study programmes. However, physical distancing of 2 metres and safe hygiene protocols must be followed.
- Noho scheduled to be held from this weekend will be delivered online until further notice.
- Follow safe hygiene and contact tracing protocols. Wear your masks in public areas. See here for more information.
- If you are sick or unwell, do not come to campus.
- If you are considered vulnerable and at risk, please stay home. Please talk to your Kaiako and/or manager so we are aware and can ensure arrangements are in place for you to carry out your study or mahi at home.
- All external events are postponed until further notice.
- No external visitors are allowed on Campus.
Whangārei campus:
- Online delivery only.
- Follow safe hygiene and contact tracing protocols and physical distancing of 2 metres in public areas, wear your masks.
Important: If you have been to Auckland in the past 10 days and have COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, please contact Healthline or your Doctor. If you need to be tested, do not come to campus, and inform your kaiako/Manager so we are aware and can ensure arrangements are in place for you to carry out your study and mahi.
Contact tracing
Everyone entering and leaving our campuses needs to follow our check in and check out procedures when on campus. There will continue to be a single point of entry on campus (Main Reception) and signing in and out from the Main Reception using the free EVA QR code system, or manually – this is compulsory. We need to know who is on campus and when so that we can carry out contact tracing should the need arise.
The Government is also encouraging everyone to use the NZ COVID Tracer app for you to record where you’ve been, and who you’ve seen. We also encourage you to do so.
Awanuiārangi pandemic plan at different Alert Levels:
Attached for your reference is our COVID-19 pandemic plan at the different Alert Levels. Please familiarise yourself with this, as well as the COVID-19 protocols emailed to you earlier today.
As indicated previously, there was always a risk that Aotearoa would be moving up and down Alert Levels at any given time. So, we need to be able to activate our pandemic plan at short notice and roll out our online delivery options wherever practicable.
Read our FAQs on our website here. These will be updated as needed to reflect the current Alert Levels. For additional pātai, please contact our COVID-19 Response Team at ssc@wananga.ac.nz (tauira) and COVID-19@wananga.ac.nz (kaimahi).
Visit our website for more useful links on support available.
Further updates will continue to be communicated as these are available. Continue to check your emails and follow the Awanuiārangi website and Facebook page for all our updates.
Again, I urge you all not to panic, stay vigilant, follow the rules and keep safe. We’ve been through these Alert Levels before whānau, and we will get through it again. Look after each other, look after yourselves, and reach out if you need support.
Thank you for your commitment and continued support whānau.
