COVID-19 Update Sunday 14 February
Subject: Alert Level changes and what this means for Awanuiārangi
Tēnā koutou,
The Prime Minister announced this evening that the Auckland Region is moving up to Alert Level 3, and the rest of New Zealand to Alert Level 2 from 11.59pm Sunday 14 February, for three days, until 12pm midnight, Wednesday 17 February.
We have outlined below what this means for Awanuiārangi. Our approach is also outlined in detail for each Alert Level on our FAQ page here, so please check back regularly.
The Government will be re-assessing the Alert Levels over the coming days, and we will provide a further update to kaimahi and tauira then. Find out more about the Government’s Alert Levels here.
Kaiako are to get in contact with tauira to confirm programme delivery arrangements for individual programmes, if needed.
Tāmaki (15-17 February)
- Our Tāmaki Campus is now closed. Other Tāmaki delivery sites will also need move to online delivery (no face-to-face classes).
- All programme delivery, noho and work meetings are to shift to online delivery only for the next three days. If this is not possible, classes will be postponed to a later date. All kaimahi need to get in touch with their tauira, as well as their reporting managers, to confirm plans for delivery.,
- Kaimahi, tauira and manuhiri are not allowed on campus. Kaimahi will be able to pick up essential equipment (e.g., laptops, not desks) for remote working tomorrow (Monday 15 February 2021) from 9am-12pm (Rachel Wetere will be onsite – please email her in the first instance for preparation). Please take only what you can carry for essential work.
- Unless otherwise notified, the Tāmaki Campus will re-open on Thursday 18 February 2021.
- Follow safe hygiene and contact tracing protocols and physical distancing of 2 metres. Please stay home wherever possible, wear masks in public areas, including public transport. Gatherings of no more than 10 people.
Whakatāne Campus
- Programme delivery on our Whakatāne campus is to continue under Alert Level 2. This includes our Nursing and Career Preparation and Study programmes. However, physical distancing of 2 metres and safe hygiene protocols must be followed.
- Noho can still be held kanohi ki te kanohi. If these programmes need to be postponed for any reason, kaiako are to keep their tauira informed. If kaiako are running a noho during Alert Level 2, please contact Moira Loach (Moira.Loach@wananga.ac.nz) for guidance on protocols and a health and safety template to use.
- Follow safe hygiene and contact tracing protocols. See here for more information. Please wear masks on public transport.
- If you are sick or unwell, do not come to work.
- If you are considered vulnerable and at risk, please stay home and deliver your programmes online if possible. Kaimahi and tauira are to talk to their Manager or kaiako so we are aware and can ensure arrangements are in place for you to carry out your mahi and studies.
- All external events this week are postponed until further notice.
- No external visitors are allowed on Campus.
Whangārei campus:
- Programmes continue to be delivered online only.
- Follow safe hygiene protocols and physical distancing of 2 metres. Please wear masks on public transport.
Important:
If you have been to Auckland in the past 10 days and have COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, please contact Healthline or your Doctor. If you are required to be tested, inform your Manager and do not come to work. Your close work contacts will also need to work from home until a negative result is produced, so it is important you let us know who you have been in close contact with at work.
Contact tracing
Everyone entering and leaving our campuses needs to follow our check in and check out procedures when on campus. There is a single point of entry on campus (Main Reception) and signing in and out from the Main Reception using the free EVA QR code system, tablet sign-in (Tāmaki Campus), or manually, is compulsory.
