COVID-19 Update: Sunday 28 February

Alert Level changes and what this means for Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi

The Auckland Region has returned to Alert Level 3, and the rest of New Zealand to Alert Level 2, for seven days. The Government will re-assess the Alert Levels over the week, and we will provide a further update to kaimahi and tauira then. Find out more about the Government’s Alert Levels here.

Alert Levels

We have outlined what this means for our Campuses and other delivery sites below. Our general approach is outlined on our FAQ page for each Alert Level, so please check back regularly. All kaiako will be getting in with tauira to confirm programme delivery arrangements for individual programmes.

Health check

If you have been to Auckland in the past 10 days and have COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, please contact Healthline or your Doctor. If you are required to be tested, inform your kaiako and do not come to campus. Your close work contacts will also need to work/study from home until a negative result is produced, so it is important you let us know who you have been in close contact with at work.

If you are considered vulnerable and at risk, please stay home and continue your work plans online if possible. Tauira are to talk to their kaiako, so arrangements can be put in place to carry out your study.

Locations of interest

All Tāmaki-based tauira MUST frequently check the locations of interest for current COVID-19 cases, especially in the South Auckland region. See here. If Whakatāne or Whangārei tauira have been to Auckland recently, please also check these locations of interest.

Tāmaki Campus and delivery sites within the Auckland region: Alert Level 3 from 28 February

PROGRAMME DELIVERY:

• Our Tāmaki Campus is now closed, until further notice. Other Tāmaki delivery sites need to move to online delivery (no face-to-face classes). Kaimahi, tauira and manuhiri are not allowed on campus.
• All programme delivery, noho and work meetings shift to online delivery only for the next seven days. If this is not possible, classes will be postponed to a later date.

TRAVEL – IN AND OUT OF TĀMAKI:

• TWWoA tauira and kaimahi from Tāmaki Makaurau will not be permitted to travel to other regions and vice versa.
• Tauira from Tāmaki Makaurau will also not be able to travel to planned noho on the Whakatāne campus. We will provide specific advice regarding the 9-12 March thesis writers’ noho closer to the time.

Whakatāne Campus and other delivery sites located outside of the Auckland region: Alert Level 2 from 28 February

PROGRAMME DELIVERY:

• On-campus programme delivery continues.
• Noho can be held kanohi ki te kanohi. If these programmes need to be postponed, kaiako will keep their tauira informed. Noho that have already been advised to be held online will continue to be held online, as previously communicated.
• Note, some programmes may retain some online teaching and learning in Alert Level 2 (e.g., our Bachelor of Education programme and noho in Whangārei). This includes ensuring resources are available online. Tauira are to check with their kaiako if this relates to them.
• Some marae-based programmes may still be continuing with online delivery. Timetabling will be communicated to tauira by kaiako and/or marae coordinators as needed.

GATHERINGS:

• Gatherings of more than 100 people are not allowed.
• All external events this week are postponed until further notice (other delivery sites are to be confirmed with management).
• External visitors are not allowed on campus.

Whangārei Campus: Alert Level 2 from 28 February

PROGRAMME DELIVERY:

Online only. This includes noho, as previously communicated.

IMPORTANT AWANUIĀRANGI PROTOCOLS – ALL ALERT LEVELS:

Sign-in procedures on Campus:

• Anyone entering and leaving programme delivery sites are required to follow the check in and check out procedures so that we can contact trace quickly and effectively should we need to.
• There is a single point of entry on all campus locations (Main Reception) and signing in and out from the Main Reception using the free EVA QR code system, the tablet sign-in (at our Tāmaki Campus) or manually, is compulsory.
• Please also use the NZ COVID Tracer app for you to record where you’ve been, and who you’ve seen. Make sure your Bluetooth is turned on when doing so.

Stay home if you’re sick:

• If you have COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, please stay, home, get tested and contact Healthline or your Doctor.
• If you are required to be tested, inform your /Kaiako and do not come to campus/delivery sites.
• Your close work contacts will also need to work from home until a negative result is produced, so it’s important you let us know who you have been in close contact with on campus.
• If you are considered vulnerable and at risk, please stay home and deliver your programmes online if possible. Tauira are to talk to their kaiako so we are aware and can ensure arrangements are in place for you to carry out your mahi and studies.

Practice safe hygiene and physical distancing: Thoroughly wash hands with soap, cough or sneeze into your elbow, maintain a physical distance of two metres (Alert Level 2) and one metre (Alert Level 3).

Mask-wearing: Wear a mask on public transport. In Auckland, wear a mask in all public areas and public transport.
