Tū Tāne Māori: Tāne Māori Perspectives of Tāne Ora

Tū Tāne Māori is an opportunity to hear from four leaders in Māori health and wellbeing. Each will discuss their perspectives on Tāne Ora – drawing upon their personal reflections, research, clinical, and community insights.

This symposium will be of value to anyone interested in Hauora Tāne and Hauora Māori and who would like to understand better the relationship between culture and Māori health development.

Dallas Seymour
Dallas Seymour

Dallas is a former All Black and long-serving member of the New Zealand 7s Rugby team. Since retiring from competitive sport, he has invested much of his time into activities which support the growth and development of Māori. By sharing personal reflections, anecdotes and insights, Dallas will highlight his perspectives on Tāne Ora and Hauora Māori.

Dr Luke Rowe
Dr Luke Rowe

Dr Luke Rowe is a registered clinical psychologist with over 20 years' experience in health, Whānau Ora and high performance. Working with and alongside Māori athletes he will share critical insights into what factors can motivate Tāne Māori and which promote Tāne Ora.

Dr Lance O'Sullivan
Dr Lance O'Sullivan

Dr Lance O'Sullivan is passionate about improving Māori health outcomes. As a medical practitioner, he is well positioned to discuss opportunities for Māori and his future aspirations for Tāne Ora.

Professor Meihana Durie
Professor Meihana Durie

Recently appointed as CEO of Te Wānanga o Raukawa, Prof. Meihana Durie brings with him a wealth of academic and research experience. A scholar with a detailed knowledge of how culture can support health and wellbeing and how these concepts can be applied to Tāne Ora.

Julian Wilcox
Dr Julian Wilcox

Dr Wilcox is an award-winning broadcaster and former television executive who completed his PhD at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.  Julian is the Master of Ceremony (MC) for the Tāne Ora Symposium.
