Entry to the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Employment Pathways Level 4 is open to applicants who meet the following requirements:
  • completed a level 3 Certificate at 60 credits or more and
  • met the English Proficiency Outcomes as stated below if their first language is not English or who come from a country where the language of instruction is not English: 

 

English Proficiency Outcomes for Certificate at Level 4  

IELTS  

General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5  

TOEFL Internet- based test (iBT)  

Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14)  

Cambridge English Qualifications  

B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill

OET  

Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests  

NZCEL  

Level 3 (Applied) or (Academic)  

Pearson Test of English (Academic)  

PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36  

Language Cert  

International ESOL B2 Communicator with overall PASS and no less than 25/50 in each skill  

or  

Academic with a minimum score of 60 overall and no skill below 55  

Trinity ISE  

ISE II with no less than pass or 80 in any band  

 

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants will be accepted on date order of application received.
  • If the number of applications exceeds the number of places available on this programme, applicants may be required to attend an interview, with the National Programme coordinator, or their delegate, to assess their suitability for the programme.

 

Special Admission

Applicants over the age of 20 who do not meet the specific entry criteria as outlined above may apply for special admission. Applicants seeking special admission will need to provide evidence of their ability to undertake study at this level and be required to attend and interview with the National Programme coordinator, or their delegate, to determine their suitability for this programme
