Te Kaupapa o Te Pou Hono – Strategic Purpose
Te Pou Hono is a suite of marae-centred courses that help marae, whānau, hapū and iwi to strengthen and revitalise Te Ao Māori in ways that reflect their own local identity.
Each Te Pou Hono course explores a unique theme that reflects different aspects of marae-centred knowledge and practice.
Te Pou Hono is intended for groups, where individuals learn collectively. It enables marae to bring together their people from across the country to share and learn from the collective knowledge held by whānau, hapū and iwi, ensuring it is passed from one generation to the next.

Course type: Core
- Description: Tauira will learn about rangatiratanga including mentoring, tuakana teina relationships and leadership in the context of cultural, social and economic development in marae communities (or equivalent).
PMM002 Mana Whenua – Mahi Marae
Course type: Core
- Description: Tauira will demonstrate mana whenua through learning about meeting and administration skills relevant to a marae setting (or equivalent).
PMM003 Mana Tangata – Mahi Marae
Course type: Core
- Description: Tauira will have a demonstrated abilities in financial literacy relevant to people involved in the cultural, social and economic development of a marae setting or equivalent.
PMM004 Mana Rangatira – Mahi Marae
Course type: Core
- Description: Tauira will learn about the purpose and content of a Strategic Plan and develop one in collaboration with their own marae community (or equivalent).
