He Aha Taku Oranga Hauora Mō Āpōpō

This research project, funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand, aimed to better understand the health concerns faced by Māori veterans and the strategies they used to maintain their well-being during wartime and after returning home. The goal is to address gaps in health services and explore ways to support the long-term health of Māori veterans through culturally appropriate care.

The project involved a variety of activities, including conducting interviews with Māori veterans to gather personal stories about their health challenges and coping strategies. These were captured through audiovisual documentation, and knowledge-sharing events were organised to disseminate findings with Māori communities, health providers, and veterans’ support organisations.
