Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi are proud Tōtara Sponsors of Te Matatini 2025

Te Matatini is a significant cultural festival and the pinnacle event for Māori performing arts. Held every two years, it is one of the most highly anticipated events for performers, their whānau and the mass of passionate Kapa Haka fans throughout the world.

In 2025, we are pleased to be supporting as a Tōtara sponsor, 'Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga' - Aotearoa and the world's largest Kapa Haka Festival to be held at Pukekura/Bowl of Brooklands, Ngāmotu/New Plymouth.

Te Matatini showcases the very best in Kapa Haka where many of our students, staff and graduates are involved from organisation, to judging, to kaihaka and kaiako levels. 

Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi will host a promotional site at the event where you can find out more about our programmes including Ngā Mana Whakairo a Toi, the Bachelor of Māori Performing Arts and Te Rautoki a Toi, the Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Performing Arts.  No reira, nau mai haere mai.

Te Kapa Haka o Te Whānau a Apanui are the current Te Matatini champions from the previous event held in 2023. The kapa haka are current tauira of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi and have a number of graduates from our Wānanga.
