COVID-19 response: Wednesday 29 July
It is great to see our tauira and kaimahi back on campus over the past seven weeks. We hope you are all enjoying the return to this greater level of normality in your day-to-day lives.
Our thoughts are also with all our international students overseas. We know you continue to face challenges across Washington State, Maui and the other islands of Hawai’i. We pray for your safety and that you continue to take every precaution. We encourage you to stay connected with us and to contact Associate Professor Mera Penehira if you have any concerns.
For our students in Aotearoa, while our situation here is different, we must not take it for granted. We must remain vigilant and continue to follow the precautions that come with still being in Alert Level 1.
Please continue to follow the rules we have on our campuses – they’re there to protect you and keep all those around you safe:
- Single point of entry on Campus (Main Reception).
- Once you have arrived at Main Reception, sign in and out from here using the free EVA QR code system, or manually – this is compulsory and important so that we can carry out contact tracing effectively should we need to. Visitors must also follow this process.
- Maintain safe hygiene – this includes washing hands, use of sanitiser, wiping down touched surfaces regularly (especially in communal areas), coughing/sneezing into elbow or tissue and discarding used tissues in the bin immediately.
- If you are sick, do not come to any of our campuses. If you are displaying flu-like symptoms, please contact your doctor or Healthline and make sure you get tested. If you are required to have a COVID-19 test, please inform your kaiako as soon as possible.
These precautions and rules need to be understood and followed by all our tauira and kaimahi, and we ask for your support in reinforcing these protocols in all your interactions with each other.
Full information on the steps we all need to continue taking can be found here and on the Government ‘Unite for recovery’ website, here.
Contact tracing wherever you go is still important. We encourage you to use the Government’s NZ COVID Tracer app if you can. More information can be found here.
Let’s all work as a team to ensure everyone stays safe. Take the right precautions, follow the rules, stay vigilant.
If you’re not sure about something, please read our FAQs here and don’t hesitate to contact our COVID-19 Response Team at COVID-19@wananga.ac.nz (kaimahi) and ssc@wananga.ac.nz (tauira) if you have additional pātai or are unclear about any of the processes.
Continue to check your emails and follow our Awanuiārangi website and Facebook page for all our news and updates.
Thank you for your continued support.
