Tikanga programme collaboration
Awanuiārangi Acknowledges Significance of Tikanga Programme Delivery
Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is collaborating with TupuOra Education and Development to deliver Te Pōkaitahi Tikanga Level 3.
While Tīkanga Māori forms an essential aspect of all Awanuiārangi programmes, this tohu marks the first dedicated programme specifically tailored to nurturing cultural customs and protocols associated with tikanga practice.
Head of Undergraduate Studies at Awanuiārangi, Sheree Spooner, explains the significance of delivering the programme.
“Our collective strength lies within our pool of specialist skills and resources; this partnership is a direct response to providing the quality education people have asked for.
“The increasing demand for building cultural knowledge and skills is a strong indicator that the mindset shift in Aotearoa will continue to have a ripple effect. We know that the positive impacts from building the cultural capabilities of communities can be profound, and everyone will benefit.”
The programme’s online delivery further acknowledges the importance of making this programme accessible for everyone.
Sheree emphasises, “By delivering it we are not only fulfilling a need for cultural education but also fostering inclusivity. It means people living in small, rural communities across Aotearoa, including New Zealanders living in Australia, have equal opportunity to access this knowledge.”
Te Pōkaitahi Tīkanga Level 3 is now open for enrolments.
