Maintaining the sustainability of our natural resources (Te Taiao) is paramount. My connection to the land and the natural world is central to both my academic endeavors and personal life.

As the National Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Environmental Studies and Te Aka Pūtaiao, I engage with both traditional and contemporary models of science relating to the environment.

In 2017 and 2023, I traveled to the United States and Canada on a scholarship to attend an Indigenous genomics conference. In 2021, I co-hosted a webinar on the Mātauranga Māori Framework for the US-based Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation, which provides a virtual platform for learning and exchange among Indigenous practitioners.

I am also an alumnus of SING (Summer Internship for Indigenous Genomics), and I am currently completing a Master of Māori Studies. My research topic is “Navigating Historical Injustices: Assessing the Impact of Treaty Breaches on Mana Wahine in the Wai 2700 Inquiry.”
